Hassan Alam is a serial entrepreneur and AI innovator with a strong foundation in both technical and business disciplines. He holds dual degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
He has founded multiple ventures in the artificial intelligence and natural language processing sectors, achieving two successful exits. He currently serves as the Founder and CEO of AI Asset, a company dedicated to developing cutting-edge AI solutions. Previously, he founded and led BCL Technologies, a firm specialising in document automation and AI-driven data extraction.
His passion lies in making AI—and Language Models in particular—accessible to all. In parallel with the ASEAN work, Hassan is leading research efforts to enable Language Models to learn from small amounts of data, thereby allowing compact Language Models to operate effectively on edge devices that anybody can afford.
Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavours, Hassan is an active angel investor and advisor, supporting emerging AI and machine learning startups. His expertise encompasses raising non-dilutive funding, scaling AI products, and bridging the gap between research and commercial applications.
While in Cambridge, Hassan is looking to explore how best to set up an AI research and innovation institute in the ASEAN region to support the development of AI in a way that is ASEAN native and appropriate.
