After qualifying as an architect, Jo decided to switch to the client side so she could help make a bigger impact on the users of spaces. She has spent her career largely in the higher education and cultural institution sector in the US and is currently the Director of Design and Construction at Kenyon College in Ohio. In her own words, she’s watched from the sidelines but now feels it’s the right time for her to get involved and is looking to find how she can best use her skills to contribute to urban development for underserved communities, particularly children.
While in Cambridge, Jo would like to explore how urban design and architecture can support the development of children and support at risk communities. She is also interested in how to engage young people in understanding the impact of architecture and urban design in our daily lives, perhaps through innovative uses of media or careers support.
