Over the last four decades Valentin has enjoyed a very diverse professional career rooted in information technologies and healthcare. The initial academic activity as a physicist led to managing a development group for computer systems followed by assuming the responsibility for a national professional services organization. Managing the world market leader in hearing healthcare and later becoming the CEO of a leading mobile telecommunications infrastructure group introduced him to a whole new world of technological innovation and international collaboration. His last managerial activity brought him to Switzerland where he became the CEO of a publicly traded company producing and distributing hearing instruments and cochlear implants. He helped to make this Swiss hidden champion the world market leader with a global industrial footprint and increasing the market capitalization by 21x. After finalizing his operational activities he became a business angel, advised several private equity companies and eventually co-founded an active engagement fund focused on Swiss publicly traded companies. Due to these collaborations, he was involved as board member or chairman in companies active in very heterogenous markets: multi-channel advertising, engineering services, Swiss apparel products, Italian 3D printed joint implants, Indian aggrotech platform, dental implants, healthcare orchestration and communication solutions. Valentin´s experience in innovation management, healthcare (devices and systems) and international business drives his interest to explore two interconnected questions while in Cambridge: How can AI accelerate the development process of medical solutions? How can AI help to cut through the gordian knot of industrialising healthcare delivery? How can Europe convert its undisputed innovation strength into globally successful companies to become more independent from the two competing superpowers?
